Four Foods Meme 5
Four Foods on Friday is a fun meme to participate in. You learn more about fellow bloggers and gain some great new friends, recipes, and tips. Val has already put up this weeks questions so you have the whole week to turn yours in!
Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt?
I like my bacon ALMOST crispy. I can’t stand biting down on a piece of chewy fat but I don’t want it to exactly crumble up when I bite it.
#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip?
MIRACLE WHIP!! There is a difference! I have made it very clear that I’m a ‘Sure Fine’ user but some things must be name brand and this is one of them!
#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup?
I have no clue whatsoever:( If I had to guess without searching the Internet, I would say green beans. I don’t know why so don’t ask.
#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in.
I’m not a big fan of Italian food (except for Lasagna) so I don’t have many recipes. This is one I have made that was alright.
INGREDIENTS:
10 slices day-old bread
1 pound mild Italian sausage, casings removed
1 medium onion, diced
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup red pepper, diced
8 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
8 eggs
3 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 teaspoons finely minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups prepared spaghetti sauce, warmed
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 13-by-9-inch pan.
2. Trim crusts from bread and cube.
3. Crumble sausage into a large skillet; sauté with onion, mushrooms and pepper. Place half the bread cubes in prepared pan, top with half the sausage mixture and half the cheese; repeat layers. In a medium bowl whisk eggs, milk, Italian seasoning, garlic and salt; pour over the filled casserole. Let stand 15 minutes so bread can soak up egg mixture. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until set. Let stand 10 minutes, cut into squares and serve drizzled with warm spaghetti sauce.

i think i’d take lasagna over the day old bread recipe.

I like my bacon the same way!
That recipe sounds good.
Thanks!
[...] Lori likes her bacon the same way as I do from the sound of things, and has shared a recipe that sou… Lori, what’s that dish called? Lori’s contest to win a stand mixer is almost over so if you haven’t entered yet high tail it over there now. You’ll get extra entries if you vote for her food blog. (While you’re on the Bloggers Choice Awards site feel free to vote for my two - I know EVERYTHING and Val’s Views. They could use a little push, they’re sitting on pages two and four respectively right now. That isn’t bad but I would love to see them on the front page honestly.) [...]
Interesting recipe. It sounds like it would be pretty good. My husband’s a big fan of the italian sausage will have to try this out some time.

I like Italian food, I’d just rather eat it at a restaurant because most of it, other than spaghetti, requires to much effort! This recipe sounds good though!
