FFOF, Winner, and Reader Question

Cooked up by Lori on Mar 26, 2008

I got a question asked to me the other day about why I participate in social networks and memes.  I do it for 3 reasons.

  1. To meet other people.  We all show each other support when we need it and it’s a great way to meet new friends.
  2. Traffic.  If you don’t already know, I make money from ALL 3 of my blogs, this one no exception so having traffic is important.
  3. For you to get to know me.  This is mainly why I do memes like the FFOF.  It gives me a chance to talk about, well….me.  I think establishing a more personal relationship with my readers is important.  I care about why you want to read here and what you have to say.  Hopefully, the feeling is mutal and you want to know a little more about who I am.

Now the other day when I announced my new “facelift“, I also said you could win $10 bucks just for letting me know your thoughts on it.  I was pleased with the results.  It seems that most people like the new look.  There were a couple of people who preferred the old look and that’s understandable since it’s what I started with.  I changed the look for one reason and that’s branding.  I needed my own unique look.  There were other running around that had the same girl and I didn’t want to look like them.  Anyways, I appreciate the comments and now for the winner……..Congratulations to Bobbie!  Please contact me within a week with your paypal address.

And now for the FFOF (Four Foods on Friday) meme.

Here are this week’s four questions.

#1. What’s your favorite form of potatoes?

Of course, mashed.  Really people, who doesn’t like mashed??!!  I especially love them with sour cream, cheese, and bacos:)
#2. Pie crust. Premade or from scratch?

Both.  If I have several pies to make, I buy the premade as a time saver.  But if I’m making one for here or a friend, I totally make it from scratch!  Anything from scratch is the best because it’s made with love.
#3. Vegetables. Fresh, frozen or canned?

FROZEN, especially corn!!!  I love corn and once you’ve had frozen, there ain’t no going back to can.  I try to buy several veges frozen but a lot are bought by the can.  As far as fresh, it’s hard for me to do that when the grocery store is 2 hrs away.  Things that are fresh don’t last long around here.
#4. What one dish do you wish you could prepare better?

Enchiladas.  Mine suck.  Please help me.  If you have a really good enchilada recipe, write about it on your blog and I’ll round up all the links and share them here in a post.

And that concludes the FFOF for this week!  I hope you all join in the  socializing and memes on your own blogs.  And if you don’t have a blog, then stop by the FFOF and see how other foodies answered the 4 questions!

  1. My absolute favorite enchilada recipe is one of Rachel Ray’s. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_21595,00.html
So easy to fix, and super yummy too. I never would have thought to put cinnamon in enchilada sauce, but it is delicious.
We’ve tried a few minor variations, dried oregano instead of fresh, flour tortillas instead of corn, and omitting the cayenne pepper sauce, but it’s still good no matter what we do.
Good luck on your next attempt at enchiladas!

  7. I would give you my enchilada recipe… but I don’t really have one.
I d use the following ingredients usually though:
    chicken
    diced green chili’s
    cream cheese
    sour cream
    a smidge of cream
    shreeded cheese

The only thing I do differently is put some diced green chili’s on the bottom of hte pan before I put in the rolled up “enchiladas”.. The red enchladas ae the same minus the plethora of dairy… (though I have mixed them and that is pretty tasty too)!

  8. i thought frozen corn was the best until I started roasting fresh, in the husks on the grill. Now that’s a little bit of heaven!
