Crockpot Apple Butter

Cooked up by Lori on May 14, 2008

OMG, if you’ve never had Apple Butter before, you don’t know what your missin’ folks! My most favorite thing is to spread it all over some fresh homemade flour tortillas ….YUMMY!!! It’s super easy to make and the kids will love it!  There are a few ways to make this recipe but this one is simple and it calls for applesauce, cutting out the work of peeling, coring, and cooking them.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 7 cups applesauce, natural
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves, optional
  • 1/2 tsp allspice

PREPARATION:

In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on LOW for 14 to 15 hours or until mixture is a deep brown.

Spoon hot apple butter into hot sterilized Mason jars and seal, then process half-pints or pints 10 minutes in a boiling water bath.
