3 Appetizing Party Food Recipes

I’m lousy at hosting parties. I’ve never been around that sort of thing so I’ve never been real sure of how to set things up. Thankfully I have a cousin who is good at it.  I figure there are plenty of other folks that are just as party challenged as I am and thought I’d share some of my cousin’s pretty eating displays.  As soon as I walked in the door, I knew she was meant for this…..

Knorr's Spinach Dip

Knorr’s Spinach Dip

  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed (do not use fresh)
  • 1 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. mayonnaise (I use Hellmann’s)
  • 1 (4 oz.) pkg. Knorr vegetable soup mix
  • 1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • Round Loaf of King’s Hawaiin Bread

Squeeze spinach until dry. In medium bowl, stir together spinach, sour cream and soup mix. Add finely chopped water chestnuts and green onions. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or overnight. Cut slice from top of round loaf of pumpernickel bread, hollow out loaf to leave shell to contain dip. Use bread removed from shell and top slice to cut into bite size pieces. Butter inside of bread shell, fill loaf with dip and place on platter and surround with crackers or even vegetable sticks.

Deli Ham and Cubed Cheese

Meat and Cheese Platter

Obviously no recipe involved but this was a hit! Cubed cheese surrounded by a variety of deli meats.  Oh so good!

Fruit Dip with Strawberries

Basic Cream Cheese Fruit Dip

  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese,softened
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth and creamy. For Marshmallow Fruit Dip:  Add 1/2 cup marshmallow creme to the basic recipe.

What kind of finger food do you serve at home parties? And are you as challenged as I am?

I like to do a block of cream cheese and raspberry chipolte sauce on top. I also have a recipe from a Halloween magazine called Halloweenies that is cocktail wienies, chili and grape jelly in a crock for a couple hours that is SO yummy!

I like shrimp mixed with cocktail sauce over a block of softened cream cheese. It’s really good with wheat thins.

I have used Knorr Leak Soup mix in my spinach dip recipe instead of the vegetable soup mix. I end up making 4-5 batches at a time it’s loved THAT much!

we’re having a birthday party at a venue for my kids tomorrow and am dreading the food. I can’t full on cook since its not at my house, but its in the evening and i want to make sure everyone has enough to eat. I guess i better start looking for ideas..quick! lol

I love doing caprese salad. You can’t go wrong with cheese, tomatoes and pesto! It’s pretty quick too.
I use the Knorr packaged pesto, but instead of water I use balsamic vinegar. When it’s cooled to room temp I drizzle it on the salad. Baguette slices to eat with it.

Fried raviolis, stuffed mushrooms and for something really different I put out english cucumber slices with a wasabi sour cream (just a dab) and a small shrimp on them.
