OMG, if you’ve never had Apple Butter before, you don’t know what your missin’ folks! My most favorite thing is to spread it all over some fresh homemade flour tortillas ….YUMMY!!! It’s super easy to make and the kids will love it! There are a few ways to make this recipe but this one is simple and it calls for applesauce, cutting out the work of peeling, coring, and cooking them.
INGREDIENTS:
- 7 cups applesauce, natural
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 1/2 cups honey
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves, optional
- 1/2 tsp allspice
PREPARATION:
In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on LOW for 14 to 15 hours or until mixture is a deep brown.
Spoon hot apple butter into hot sterilized Mason jars and seal, then process half-pints or pints 10 minutes in a boiling water bath.

YUM!!!! I love apple butter! I will definitely have to try this!

The Crockpot Apple Butter sounds good, and easy! No picture posted with recipe.
HELP! I’m trying this recipe as I type. Cooked the amount of time indicated, however it is VERY thin. How do I get it to thicken up?… it has a beautiful color and the taste is perfect, but it is much too thin. More like apple sauce than apple butter. (Tried cooling a little of it and it doesn’t begin to thicken it up as much as it needs to be.) PLEASE HELP!

This apple butter is great. I put it on low for 10 hours and then removed the lid and turned it on high for 5 hours to thicken it. I will definitely keep this recipe. Much healthier.
I had this recipe years ago and lost it.Thanks so much for posting it, I can’t wait to make it again.
This sounds like a great easy recipe. I will have to try it.
Okay this recipe is a definite keeper. Here you are combining my favorite things, tasty apple butter – to spread on the apple bread, using a slow cooker and canning the result. My lot are certainly going to love this apple butter.
