Handmade, to me, means that someone poured their heart and soul into a project to give someone else pleasure in using it. I have an appreciate for handmade anythings. With all the fancy, hi-tech kitchen equipment that’s out there, it’s nice to seek out smaller and perhaps more meaningful treasures for your kitchen.
I got an email from Teri the other day and thought I’d share it (hopefully she won’t mind). By the way, I have no clue who Teri is but apparently she’s a reader of My Wooden Spoon and huge fan of her Mom.
My Mother, Marilyn Kaiser, began a small business in 2007 called Phase Three. She is a believer that she is in her third phase of life. The first was when she was a child, the second when she raised her kids, and the third is as a Grandma and a capable, older woman looking for her place in the world. She designs hostess aprons and sews them using designer fabrics. She uses a wonderful 4-pleated design with a high waistband that is flattering on women of all ages, sizes and shapes. We have heard from more than one customer that felt the waistband did a great job of hiding those”muffin tops”.

I am extremely proud of her and she even allows me the honor of being the fabric buyer, but she is the seamstress, designer, and hard worker behind her fabulous aprons.
That is what I love about handmade. In this case, it’s something that brings family together. It’s an honor to be apart of and a prideful moment to see someone pursuing their passion.
Meet one of Marilyn’s designs from Phase Three. In store full of beautifully built aprons, this was my favorite, Vintage Fruit Hostess Apron. Thanks for sharing this treasure with us Teri!
Do you have some kitchen favorites that are handmade? I’d love for you to share them in the comments. I’m looking to add to my collection!

I absolutely LOVE that apron! (I think they should offer one up for a giveaway- hint)! TOO CUTE.
You are so right Lori – it brings people together and builds / grows relationships.
On a side note (and I have said it before)…I really REALLY do like your new look here!
Thank you:) And yes the Apron is too cute huh! I love it, esp cause it looks like it will hide at least part of my waistline! lol
Umm, that is flipping ADORABLE. I love the thick, high waist band. Gives pie-lovers like myself a shot at a waistline and that print is just too cute!! Also…I owe you an email. You’ll like it
Cute apron! I like the new website design. I wish I handmade kitchen things, but all I hand make are scented candles…a lot of them are in bakery or fruit scents though
Candles are always wonderful! I’ll check your site out Audrey!
Oh my gosh – you know how I love retro stuff. I must have one of those aprons!!!
Lori, Thank you so much for featuring my Mom’s aprons in a post. Plus, you have great taste. That is my favorite apron so far…and one that I have in my collection. (In addition to being her support staff, I’m also one of my Mom’s best customers!) Handmade does bring family and friends together as does the kitchen, and great recipes! Thanks again!
Duhhhhhhhhhh, brain overload. I found them. Yippee
I really love this apron..hey if it hides muffin tops
I’m all for this one:) really cute..I love the material,
very colorful:)
I Love these aprons and would love to have some made for my catering company. Is there any way I can get in touch with your mom, Marilyn?
Hi Karen, She would be more than happy to discuss making some aprons for your catering company! You can contact us at phasethree at ymail dot com and we can go from there. Have a wonderful day!
I LOVE these aprons, so cute! I am going to have my mom contact you about aprons too if that is ok with you. She has a cookie mold company, house on the hill, we are a family run company also. So we love handmade items and family oriented companies, so I was very excited to see this post here! We have some aprons but I think she might be interested in yours too as they are SUPER cute!
Hi Cassie, Please let us know how we can help. Again, the email address is phasethree at ymail dot com and we would be happy to answer any questions that you or your mom might have. Take care.
You hit it on the nose when you said it brings the family together. Marilyn has all of us helping in one way or another and as her older sister, she knows all she has to do is call. It is very exciting for all of us to see her aprons featured. Her workmanship is unbelievable. Teri and I both agree she has the patience for all the little details. That is why she does the sewing and we help out where we can. Must check out rest of aprons. They are really fun. Thanks again for the feature.
