SmartShopper Makes Grocery Shopping a Breeze

I love gadgets, I really love gadgets that reduce my time in the grocery store so when I had the chance to review the SmartShopper (something I’ve wanted for a long time now), I jumped on it!

First thing I noticed was the simplicity of this clever machine.  Nice clear buttons make easy for reading and understanding it.

It takes 4 double A batteries and comes with 3 rolls of printing paper and mounting hardware if you want it somewhere other than your refrigerator.  Otherwise, it’s magnetic and sticks to the frig perfectly!

To see this in action, watch the video but in a nutshell, this is how it works:

Simply hit record and say your item.  The machine finds the closes 3 matches and allows you to choose which one you want to select.  Using your arrow keys, highlight your choice and click select and it’s added!  If you have a coupon, you can also tell it that so that you’ll have a little icon reminding you that you have a coupon for that item.

There were several items that I said that it didn’t recognize like bread.  Not sure if it’s my voice since I’m still sick or what but would love to see more items added to it.  Of course, you can program your own items into the machine so that’s a great feature.

Overall, this is a very cool gadget and the separation of food groups when printed out is what rocks my boat!

  1. Um…what’s a grocery list?!?!?! Either my OCD hubby will make a very detailed list, or we will just wing it at the store. This week, we forgot to buy ketchup. So later, both of us (separately) bought a gallon can! Fortunately, it was only a couple of dollars.

I wait until Wednesdays when my local ads come out. And then I gather my coupons and go to sites like couponmom and download the rest of the coupons. I then make a list on post-its for each store and attach to each ad. I also have a magnetic list on the refridgerator so we can write thins we are out of at the moment. I then include that list with my coupons.
And off to the stores I go.
*sigh* This device would save alot of writing.

Right now, write it down on anything we can find, then get to the store and be missing several lits.

Since we’re on a budget and repeat a lot of the same meals, I try to keep the receipt from my last trip to the store and check it to buy the same items again.

But lately it’s not working because receipts now are made with an ink that smears easily. Back to the drawing board.

My grocery list method is the old fashioned method, LOL! I just make lists and bring them to the grocery store with me. I am the one who needs this SmartShopper! With 3 young children, one being 5 months old, 2 dogs and a husband who counts as 2 people (LOL) I am forever getting to the grocery store or department store and forgetting to get something one of my family members told me to get. I have had to go back to the store on more occasions than I care to think about because I forgot to purchase something crucial that someone absolutely had to have! This would make my life so much easier and my shopping so much for efficient if I had this very nifty gadget! I would also be much more organized in my visits to the grocery store and have some peace of mind! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.

I make my list then I go through my coupons and put a c next to anything I have a coupon for. I usually end up adding some stuff to the list as coupons jog my memory or make me hungry for something.

  18. jeanie says:

I don’t really have a method. I do make a list though, I usually look through my fridge and pantry and make a list and head off to the grocery store. Thanks!
