I can remember everyone talking about Jamba Juice. I had no clue what they were talking about because when you live out the middle of nowhere Texas, you don’t exactly have the food wonders that are available to the rest of the world. “Oh my gosh, it’s the best ever, it’s sooooo good”….those were words I heard often when Jamba Juice fell into the conversation.

Anyways, Jamba Juice sent me some(<–disclosure) smoothie mix to try out and since Toby is big on smoothies & I was curious on taste, I had to say yes!

It comes in a colorful bag from the freezer section. I found it by the the frozen fruits at Walmart. When I read the back, I was actually a little surprised because most smoothies call for ice and/or milk but not Jamba Juice; it called for apple juice. One cup to be exact and WOW. Just the fruit and one cup of apple juice, that’s it. The taste is A-MAZING. I’ve had a lot of smoothies but nothing compares to this one. No wonder everyone raves about Jamba Juice. You should have seen Toby’s face when he tasted it. A big smile and eyebrows raised like, he was so surprised at how good it was.

This has been our morning breakfast because it tastes good and because its’ good for you. We’ve been losing a few pounds around here and I have no doubt that some of it is due to our new morning breakfast. Have you guys tried it? If you haven’t, boy are you missing out.  TO DIE FOR!

Smoothies are a great way to cool off this Summer.  My son makes every possible kind out there so you can imagine how delighted he was when a cooler full of Chiquita Smoothie mixes arrived!  There were four flavors; Peach Mango, Mixed Berry, Banana Colada, and Strawberry Banana.  We tried the Peach Mango first because my son loves mangos.  We made it straight from the can like a normal, plain but it was good.  I personally added a packet of Truvia to it for me but my son had it without.  They are used with real fruit, 100% natural and filled with antioxidants.

I really want to make this one and have never thought of being this creative with a smoothie before!  Doesn’t it just sound delicious!  Mmmmmm!

Strawberry Banana Split Smoothie

• 1 can Strawberry Banana Chiquita Smoothie
• 1 c. whipped cream
• 5 Tbsp. chocolate syrup
• 4 oz water
• 2 cans of ice

Put all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth!

What is YOUR favorite kind of smoothie?

Just had the chance to try some Organic Milk by Borden and it was GREAT!  I admit, I was skeered to try organic milk but I thought it tasted great and the kids thought it was much better than regular milk.  Absolutely loved the bottle as well.  It took up less room and was very easy to hold….great for little kiddos.

In honor of happy taste buds, I’m sharing this fabulous smoothie recipe!  Enjoy;)

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 ½ cups blueberries, frozen
• 1 cup chilled apple juice
• 1 container Borden Cherry Vanilla non fat yogurt
• ½ cup Borden Organic 1% Low Fat Milk (Borden Organic Whole, 2% Reduced Fat or Fat Free Milk may be substituted)
• ½ teaspoon almond extract
• ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
• Garnish: fresh blueberries, assorted seasonal fruits, granola

Let’s get shaking!

1. Place all ingredients in a blender, secure top, and blend.
2. Serve immediately with your choice of garnish.

Kid-friendly Kitchen Tips:

1. For really cool sipping, place serving glasses in the freezer up to 8 hours before using. When ready to serve, remove glasses from freezer and fill with milkshake.
2. Change the recipe by substituting frozen raspberries or peaches for blueberries and changing the flavor of yogurt flavor to Borden Strawberry Banana or Raspberry Non Fat Yogurts. Very cool!
