Fantastic cake! I followed the directions exactly and it turned out perfect although I did have to cook it a touch longer than the 30 minutes ( I used a 2" deep half hotel pan to cook it in). I am a kitchen manager and make all of the desserts. I will definately add this to my rotation. If anyone asks I will give them the URL to get recipe. Thank you. -Tony

Yes, I am assuming you sprayed your pan with oil before baking the oatmeal cake. I am trying it now so will let you know how it turned out. A friend of mine baked one for a church dinner and it was a hit so I am trying your recipe as I haven't gotten hers as yet.

Ellie....Why is it necessary to criticize? This is a DARNED good recipe and if you can't stand a little semantics ..Perhaps this is not the place for you.

I think, "Borders the food porn side" is a bit much, don't you?
Otherwise, it's a great recipe. I just wish we didn't feel the need to sink into trash talk and think it's funny.

I've never heard of an oatmeal cake but this sounds good (and it looks like you used your Kitchenaid to make it).

For Diabetics type 2... try using 4 Sweet& Low (or other sugar substitute) in place of the white sugar...and in place of the Icing try a sprinkle of cinnamon.
There are a number of tricks you can try as your tastes may very!

I'm eating my first piece right now, and it's amazing! I skipped the icing, but the cake alone is addictive. Definitely a recipe to add to my list of favorites, and the best part is that it takes almost no time at all to make.

This was a great dessert, and I cannot wait to have it in the morning for a breakfast bread, and I love that it has whole grain in it....thanks for the recipe.

The best cake ever. My husband does not like oatmeal cake, I LOVE oatmeal cake and thus have tried to find one that he will eat. For 5 years I haven't had any luck at all and had given up hope. But this looked pretty good so... Yep, he asks for it now! Thank you!
